George W. Keeley GEORGE W. KEELEY

George W. Keeley - concentrating in trade association law, commercial law, antitrust and trade regulation, employment, government regulations and cooperative legal arrangements. He combines legal expertise with a business sense to collaborate with business associations and corporate clients as general counsel, advising executives and board members of tax-exempt organizations on antitrust compliance, joint ventures, employment matters, regulatory issues, tax-exempt status, political action committees, trade shows, contract preparation and review and other legal compliance issues.

Mr. Keeley has written numerous articles on such topics as antitrust compliance, strategic alliances, manufacturer/distributor relations, employment law, dispute resolution and product standards and certification. He is author of the firm's popular pamphlet, "What Every Business Should Know About the Antitrust Laws".

A member of the Illinois and Chicago Bar Associations, Mr. Keeley received his Juris Doctor degree from Loyola University School of Law, his Master of Business Administration degree from Northwestern University Graduate School of Management, and his bachelor's degree in Economics from the University of Notre Dame.

Recent Engagements

  • Counseled a major trade show exposition with over 100,000 attendees through contract matters, convention center compliance rules and government health and safety regulations at the onset of the pandemic
  • Represented a trade association on the negotiation, due diligence review and closing the sale of its trade show to a strategic buyer with important post-sales incentives and earn-outs for the association
  • Represented a tax-exempt organization on the due diligence analysis and acquisition of an information and data technology company, to enhance member value for continuity and improvement of vital industry market data and company performance metrics
  • Negotiated the successful termination and/or rebooking of numerous hotel, convention center and other vendor contracts when event organizers were forced to cancel in-person events due to the pandemic
  • Formation of a joint venture of two associations to conduct a virtual education conference and equipment display
  • Several successful mergers of non-profit membership organizations
